Great Rock and Soul

The great Dave Mason and his band were awesome! Adding Steve Cropper was fantastic as well. A top 20 show for sure in my 65 years.

He’s still got it!

What a pleasant surprise. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Penn’s Peak. The opening act was Clarence Spady, a blues artist who we were introduced to. Class act. Dave and his band rocked a set list that was perfect. He’s been at it for more than 60 years and still plays like the legend he is. Still in awe.

At 77 Dave Mason is still a strong guitarist and, the band was tight or should I say right for the performer/singer/songwriter! Great talent still in full out mode. Strong finish with "Feelin Alright." Standing ovation was well deserved! Also, The Knight Theatre was the perfect stage!

My wife was skeptical when I bought the tickets. She knew of a few Dave Mason songs, but did not share my enthusiasm. Boy, was she surprised and had a great time. Dave can still play his fender strat like he was 25, instead of 73! His vocals were clear and crisp, the band great. If we get a chance to hear him again, we will jump at the chance.

The instruments were much too loud... couldn't hear Dave's voice

Dave Mason is and way amazing but it would be a much nicer experience if City Winery would tone down the instruments and enable us to hear the voice to the singer. Dave played long and incredibly well but he was constantly drowned out by the other guitars, drums and organ. This has been a problem at the 4 other concerts I've been to at Chicago's City Winery. Great talent performs there but they crank up the music to the point that you can't hear any of the vocals.
