The opening night production on The Magic Flute was the most enjoyable opera performance I have ever seen. Flawless singing, a set that was magical, choreography like a broadway show, and hilarious comedy bits! Yes this was opera! Tiny complaints: start time was 8:00 not 7:30. Traffic jam so we had to cancel our restaurant reservation and eat Subway sandwiches in the parking lot expecting the early start. Top tier seats and in the Queen of the Nights first aria as well as the final scene the performers disappeared from view at top of the pyramid. I kept thinking how much our young grandkids would love the performance until....10:15. 10:40. 11:15 pm. Lucky for the comedy scene when the birdwatcher finally got a girlfriend to wake us up!!
