Hamilton: An American Musical has been brought to life across the globe since its inception in February 2015 by Off-Broadway's Public Theater. Since its premiere, the musical has soared to unimaginable heights, garnering over 25 awards for the performances Off-Broadway, on the West End and on Broadway. If you're already familiar with the musical phenomenon, then you know the story revolves around the biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. (If you haven't heard of Hamilton, you've either been living under a rock or perhaps you've only recently found interest in the arts?). 

After its sensational Off-Broadway run, the musical transferred to Broadway, where it received high praise from critics which led box office sales to sky-rocket. As could be expected, after the musicals enthusiastic reception, the show went on to receive a record-breaking 16 Tony nominations, winning 11 of them, including Best Musical. 

We could go on, and run through the immense collection of awards Hamilton has garnered since its debut - as well as all the cities Lin-Manuel has infected with his wonderfully contagious Hamil-beat. But we think the most important thing is really what you, the audience, think of this theatrical giant! 

Here at Theatreland, we couldn't miss seeing a musical about history, creating history! Our Broadway reviewer Nicola couldn't praise it enough, saying, "This is theatre at its best, and I personally loved that there was no use of digital projection despite the modern spin. Hamilton has the ability to send you back in time to the tradition of campfire stories being told with song and dance. While it may be a creation of this era, Miranda's work is making history."
