The Tony-nominated play hits the road in 2020!

The summer of 2020 may seem far away but To Kill A Mockingbird is starting to prepare for their first national tour! The Broadway production of Harper Lee's iconic novel is nominated for nine Tony awards and currently stars Jeff Daniels.

Broadway alum Richard Thomas will step into the shoes of lawyer Atticus Finch when To Kill A Mockingbird hits the road. Thomas' previous Broadway credits include The Little Foxes, You Can't Take it With You, An Enemy of the People, Race and A Naked Girl on the Appian Way.

The national tour will be directed by Bartlett Sher, who is nominated for a 2019 Tony for his direction of the play.

What is To Kill A Mockingbird about?

Told through the eyes of 13-year-old Scout, Mockingbird is set in the pre-civil rights era Deep South of the 1930s. When local black man Tom Robinson is accused of raping a white girl, Scout's lawyer father Atticus Finch takes on the case, determined to try and give Tom a fair trial. With his decision to defend Tom, Atticus finds himself ostracised from the community, and the lives of his family put into danger. As the trial approaches, Atticus must choose whether to buckle under the mounting pressure or to stand his ground and fight for what is right.
